The Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) was at Hollywood Casino & Hotel St. Louis for the second time this year. The $1,650 Main Event drew 480 entries and created a $698,400 prize pool. In the end, it was Wisconsin poker pro Mike Shin who emerged victorious to claim a $160,632 first-place prize and his first HPT Trophy.
Season XV of the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) continues this week at Hollywood Casino in St. Louis, Missouri. The stop features a $1,650 buy-in Main Event this weekend that will be live reported right here on PokerNews.
That tournament kicks off with Day 1a on Thursday, August 1 at 2 p.m. local time. Players will start with 30,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels. Day 1b will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 2, while Day 1c will begin at Noon on Saturday, August 3. The surviving players from both flights returning for Day 2 action at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The final table will then be live-streamed at noon on Monday, August 5 at Noon.
The stop actually kicked off this past weekend with Event #1: $350 NLH, a tournament that attracted 1,129 entries and created a $338,700 prize pool. That tournament ended in a three-way deal that saw Dino Galic, Nathaniel Stumpf, and Taylor Hooper each take home $42,202.
In other side event news, James Finch topped a 259-entry field to win Event #2: $300 NLH Seniors 50+ for $15,975, while defending HPT St. Louis champ Bill Byrnes bested a 112-entry field to win Event #3: $200 7-Game Mix for $5,197.
You might recall that back in March, Byrnes prevailed over a 444-entry field to win the HPT St. Louis for $148K.
Upcoming HPT Stops
Season XV of the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) is a big one with stops at the Hollywood Casinos in St. Louis and the Cincinnati area (Lawrenceburg, Indiana), The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Pittsburgh, and Ameristar East Chicago. Player of the Year Update
The HPT Player of the Year race is always competitive, and right now Nick Pupillo is out in front with 203.70 points, which is a good margin ahead of Nick Davidson in second place with 163.80 points.
Sitting in third thanks to back-to-back final tables and winning the HPT Lawrenceburg for $119,101 is Greg Wood with 152.5 points.

Whoever wins the POY title will claim more than bragging rights. The POY earns a $10,000 package to use next season as well as complimentary hotel accommodations at those six stops. In case of a tie, all winning players will split the POY prize package evenly.
